Developmental Activities for Children Birth to 4
Session description: This workshop focuses on research-based tools and approaches designed to help young children develop cognitive, social-emotional, self-regulatory, and foundational academic skills needed to succeed. The session focuses on answering how children develop and learn. The role of the teacher will be explored as a facilitator of assisting children in becoming intentional and reflective learners. The tools component addresses setting up and maintaining the organized, physical environment through age-appropriate toys, manipulatives, and literature. The approaches in this workshop explore reached-based learning theories of explorative play, inquiry-based learning, and meaningful and engaging interactions.

Early Childhood Curriculum Standards & Methods
Session description: This Professional Development session focuses on the new MS Guidelines for Infants and Toddlers MS Early Learning Standards. Participants will also grow deeply in their understanding of: 1) how to observe children's developmental levels and appropriate practice, 2) what developmentally appropriate activities to provide, 3) the Common Core State Standards, and 4) how best to support children and plan for their learning. This workshop also discusses materials and methods to for instruction.

Early Literacy for Early Childhood Providers
Session description: This Professional Development session focuses on planning and implementing an effective Early Literacy program. Participants will learn about early literacy and language development and foundations, components of an effective early literacy program and a variety of early literacy teaching techniques and methods.

Appropriate Learning Center Practices
Session description: This Professional Development session focuses on planning and implementing effective learning centers. Participants will be deeply involved in learning how to be a facilitator of learning, and grow in their understanding of: 1) how to observe children's developmental levels, 2) what developmentally appropriate activities to provide, 3) how to serve as a behavior model in these centers, and 4) how best to support children in their learning.
